Austrian tennis player appeals match-fixing case

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) -- Austrian tennis player Daniel Koellerer has appeared at the Court of Arbitration for Sport to challenge his lifetime ban for attempting to fix matches.
This is the start of Koellerer's two-day case before the top court for international sports. A verdict is expected early next year.
Koellerer was the first tennis player banned for life for attempted corruption. He was found guilty of three violations between October 2009 and July 2010.
The ban was imposed in May by the Tennis Integrity, an anti-corruption body set up by the men's and women's tours, the International Tennis Federation and Grand Slam Committee.
Koellerer's ranking peaked at No. 55 in October 2009.
